Hello folks! My name is Richard Mullins. I’m a seasoned tobacco industry expert with over three decades of experience under my belt. My journey began in the heartlands of North Carolina, USA, where I was born and bred amidst the green tobacco fields that have been the backbone of our community for generations. Today, I’m proud to call Australia my home, a perfect blend of warm people, stunning natural beauty, and an innovative tobacco industry!

I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the biggest names in the industry. My career started at British American Tobacco, where I cut my teeth in research and product development. After a successful stint there, I moved to Philip Morris International, where I headed the team developing reduced risk products. The focus on reducing the health impact of tobacco use was something I took great pride in. My next move was to the emerging markets, where I led Altria’s operations in Southeast Asia for nearly a decade.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of being recognized by my peers for my contributions to the industry. My most cherished award is the “Golden Leaf Award” I received in 2022 for my work in tobacco harm reduction strategies. I was also listed among “Top Influential Leaders in Tobacco Industry” by Tobacco Business magazine consecutively for three years from 2020 to 2022.

On the side, I’ve been running my own tobacco blog called “Smoke Signals,” focusing on responsible tobacco use, emerging industry trends, and debunking myths. It’s been gratifying to see the community grow and foster healthy discussions.

When I’m not delving into the world of tobacco, you can find me hiking the beautiful trails around my home in Melbourne, or behind the lens of my camera, capturing the Australian wilderness in all its glory. I also enjoy volunteering at local community kitchens, a little something I picked up during my travels in Southeast Asia.
